Wedding Flashback - RSVPs

For the life of me I cannot understand why people have such a hard time with RSVPs. I actually didn't have as bad of a time with getting RSVPs for my wedding as some people I've heard about. But seriously-- for a wedding you get a self addressed stamped envelope. What could be easier!?

I'm hosting a bridal shower for a friend next Saturday. I know almost none of the people invited to the shower, so it's not like I can just call them up and see if they are coming. (Most are from the bride's small hometown.)

The RSVP date isn't until tomorrow, but I've only heard from 1/4 of the guests. AND-- the ones I've heard from are the obvious "yes" people. (bridesmaids, moms, etc) I really don't need the RSVPs that early, but it would be nice to know how many plates, etc to get so I can start organizing things in advance. I even listed a phone number AND email address, so there's no excuse.

Grrr... Just a little frustrated and needed to vent. I'll let you all know if I actually start hearing from these people.
