- I got emotional while getting an oil change today. That most definitely makes me a huge dork. The thing is, that was probably the last oil change I'm going to get for that car. My 2 door little Toyota Solara isn't exactly a "family car." The tiny back seat is pretty far back, so unless I plan on flinging the baby into the car seat every time, I'm going to have to get something a little more suitable. I have no idea what to get, but I'm sure there will be many more posts about that when the time comes. (Probably October or November.) I would try and trade for my husband's, but he says he won't be caught dead driving a lipstick red Solara. (I guess it is a little feminine.)

-I made two appointments to visit the hospitals that my doctor delivers at. I'm planning on going alone. Is that weird? T has been at every appointment so far even though I haven't asked him to, but when I made the tour appointments, I made them at times that would work for me, but not necessarily him. I guess I figured that it would be my decision anyways. He'll have plenty of time to get to know the hospital when it comes time to take classes, etc, right?
-I saw the movie "Away We Go" this afternoon with my Mom. (Yes.... it's lovely being out of work.) Very cute movie if you haven't seen it. (Especially for those other pregnant women out there...)

- I am an obsessive list maker. While waiting for my oil change I started to make a list of food items that I should make in December and then freeze to have on hand after the baby comes. (Soups, etc) It's definitely a good idea, but do I really need to worry about it this far in advance?!
Well... I guess those are all the random musings for the day!

Hi Anna. I just *had* to stop lurking and comment because you are not alone at all about the retainer! By the way, I found your blog via Stlwed a long time ago and have kept it on my Google Reader so I'm glad you are back to posting! :)
I've been thinking about going to the orthodontist for several months because I thought I was noticing some minor shifting. Or so I thought! Today, the shift of one particular tooth seemed much more noticeable to me than usual. Yikes! I hated my last retainer so I'm glad to hear that I might be able to get something different. If you recommend your orthodontist, I would love another name to consider. Thanks!
I had a clear retainer like that, but I stopped wearing it almost immediately. I really wish I hadn't! I looked into Invisalign to fix the few teeth that have shifted, but the orthodontist informed me that if I hadn't been diligent about wearing the retainer, he didn't think I could handle Invisalign. Boo.
Hi Donna--
I know! It's so sad to see any shifting after suffering through braces for years. I like my Orthodontist. His name is Dr. Shaheen and he has offices in Frontenac and Chesterfield. It was really quick to get the retainer made. (Got impressions one week and it was ready the next.)
It was $172 total for the two. (upper and lower and the appointment/consultation wasn't any extra) He said that the shifting could be fixed via a series of Invisalign, but I told him that it wasn't bad enough to bother me, I just didn't want it to get any worse.
Hope that helps!
