Random Baby Related Organization Tip

I recently asked a friend of mine if she had any tips for my baby room closet organization. (She also happens to be the mother of an almost two year old and a newborn.)

She did mention one thing that I hadn't thought of thought was a good idea. She suggested buying a large number plastic bins and labeling them 1-3 mo, 3-6 mo, 6-8 mo, etc. She said that one thing that drove her crazy with her first baby was how she always had clothes lying around in the wrong size. Babies outgrown things very quickly and sometimes it's hard to remember to run out and buy a new plastic bin every few months. When your baby is 2ish mo, she suggests leaving the 1-3 month bin on a shelf in the closet so you can just toss the outgrown items in there when the time comes. When it's full, just put the lid on and stick it in the basement.

She also said that a lot of times people will buy you clothing in advance. (A size 6-8 mo when your baby is a newborn.) If you are limited on closet space you can go ahead and put it in the appropriate bin for when the time comes.

I thought this was a tip worth sharing. Plus-- if you are Type A like myself, all of the plastic bins will match and stack nicely. (opposed to if you bought them at different times at different stores.)
