Another One Bites The Dust...

On Sunday we moved my little sister into her dorm at good ole Mizzou. I have two sisters and all three of us went to school there. I can't believe that she is even old enough to be going. Time flies. I feel like I just moved into my own dorm. I'm going to miss her a ton and I think my mother is going crazy now that all three girls are gone.

Rooms I Love...At The Moment

Our house has pretty much been fully decorated for well over a year now. There are a few more small projects that I'd like to tackle, but for the most part, all the "fun" stuff is done. I'm going into HomeGoods/ ZGallerie/ Any other home store  withdrawals which means I start wasting time looking at fantasy rooms online and day dreaming about my next house. 

Here's where my mind is wandering at the moment. Keep in mind that my husband would veto most of these for looking far to feminine. Oh well...a girl can dream.

Apparently I'm loving color at the moment and green happens to be my favorite. It makes a pretty strong appearance in each room. I guess I'm not ready for Fall yet either because all of these are pretty bright and airy. 

Project Runway Update-Spoilers

I haven't blogged about this show in a little while so I thought it was time for a bit of an update. They have eliminated a handful of contestants so now it is easier to keep them all straight. There is also a little more time spent on each contestant "behind the scenes" so you can get to know a little more about their personality, background and aesthetic. 

Here was the winner from last night's "team challenge" where they got to design an outfit for Brook Shield's character on Lipstick Jungle. It had to be something that she could have worn in the boardroom or in a nightlife setting. Something to take her from day to night. 

I wouldn't have chosen this as the winner..

I liked the "runner up" much more.

2nd Place: Stella/Jerrell:

I was really pissed about the loser. So maybe it was a tad slutty when she took the jacket off. At least it fit the basic challenge guidelines. Kelli was the one that got eliminated at the end of the show.

Barely made it: Blayne/Leanne.

Seriously. Does that last outfit look suitable for the work place and nightlife? I'll answer that myself. It worked for neither. Blane should have gone home. I hate him and his tanorexic "fashionliciousness" or whatever the heck he says...

Whew! Glad I got off my chest. Any other PR fans out there?

A Busy Week

It seems like this week has just been packed with things to do. Monday I had a family dinner to attend. Tuesday was my one night at home. Unfortunately, my husband had a work dinner, so was left home alone. That was fine with me because it meant that I didn't have to compete for the remote to watch the season finale of one of my guilty pleasures...

Since I don't do much cooking for myself when I'm home alone I had a delicious dinner of sweet potato fries. There's nothing like sitting in front of the TV in your pajamas with a giant plate of fried carbohydrates. Delish!

Wednesday I had a great evening with my mother in law, sister in law and "girl friend in law." (Brother in law's girl friend) We had a fantastic dinner at Jimmy's on the Park before heading over to the Muny for Fiddler on the Roof. 

My grandpa has some great season tickets to the Muny, but for some reason this was the only show that I went to see this whole summer. I had never seen Fiddler and really didn't know much about the story line. I have to say....I was a little disappointed. I'm sure the Muny did a great job with the production and everyone gave it great reviews, so I guess it's just that I wasn't really in love with the show itself. I did recognize a lot more of the songs than I thought I would, but when I see a musical something inside me yearns for great dancing and gaudy sequined costumes. This story takes place in a poor Russian village, so there wasn't much of either. When it was over I was kind of like...."that's it?!"

Thursday night was yet another late night out. (For a "school night" anyways.) We went to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers at Verizon.

We saw him a two years ago and loved the show. This time my Mom and sisters wanted to go. It was fantastic. He's one of those performers who knows that his fans want to hear his old hits rather than whatever new stuff he's coming out with. (If he is even still writing songs...) He sounded great. The only bad thing about it was that I was stuck in the bathroom/beer line for "Free Falling" and my personal favorite, "Mary Janes Last Dance."

Whew! So now the weekend is here and I'm totally exhausted. Luckily we have pretty quiet weekend planned. 

Terrible Story. Prayers Please.

This email was forwarded to me by my MIL. Megan is a friend I've known since grade school. Although I don't know the couple this story is about, I thought I would pass it along. Keep them in your prayers. How life can change in an instant.

It is not often that I send out a mass email, but Megan is requesting your prayers especially for the next 24 hours. Her friend, Todd ***, is in critical condition at the Lake of the Ozarks, where he has been since Friday evening. He and his wife, *** (a sorority sister of Megan's), have just celebrated their 1 year anniversary. They live in Kansas City. They were enjoying a dinner at Horny Toads (a fixture at the Lake), when he may have started choking on something and took a drink of water to get it down. At some point, someone preformed the Heimlich, he vomited, and aspirated on that vomit (Sorry, it's graphic, but this is beyond belief). No alcohol was involved. He lost consciousness and EMT's who happened to be there did CPR. He was without Oxygen for 4 minutes at least. They got word today that the EEG performed this morning shows almost no brain activity. If he doesn't do something voluntary (wake up, move eyes or limbs) in the next 24 hours, this 26 year old newlywed will have to make the most horrible decision of her life. Todd is about 27. Please pray for this young man. We have met Todd on several occasions and he is an upbeat, optimistic guy. They need a miracle. Thank you. 

Fantasy House Hunting

Considering the fact that we are not planning on moving out of our current home any time soon, it is pretty absurd that I look through the cbgundaker.com website at least once a week. Maybe I'll start posting a weekly favorite. 

Oh--and I'm not looking at the 2 million dollar Lindell mansions or anything. These are more "feasible" fantasy homes. Here's the current "Fantasy House of the Week." Something about that Spanish/Italianate style with the tiled roof just makes my heart melt. Don't even get me started on all those paned windows in the dining room...or those great glass doors separating the interior.

Lucky for me, even if we A) Wanted to shell out the $415K for the house and B) Were even considering moving, this house probably wouldn't be a contender. Why, your ask? Well, for one thing, it only has one and a half baths (AKA no master bath) and the kitchen and bathroom could use a pretty significant remodel. 

Oh well...it's pretty to look at. :)

Only 2 More Months!!!!

Until our Greece trip! I've had the hotels, flights, and ferries booked for a while, so now I am down to the smaller details. Half of the fun with these trips is the planning. (At least for me, H thinks I am insane for all the time I spend on TripAdvisor.com.) 

So...wanna see where we'll be staying? I'm not going to say the names because I don't want any crazies canceling my reservation or anything. I'll give a full trip report when we return.

Hotel #1: Athens

We decided to scrimp a little on this hotel. It has a great location, but the rooms are pretty simple. Check out the view from the restaurant though! (Not a bad place to have your continental breakfast, huh?)

Hotel #2: Santorini

And here is why we decided to scrimp a little on the Athens hotel. It is on the pricey side, but we will have a room right on the caldera. Might have to start using the stair master at the gym though...check out all those steps! They advise anyone with physical disabilities NOT to stay here. 

Hotel #3: Naxos

Naxos is one of the largest Greek islands and is known for their beaches, so we chose this quaint little greek bungalow style hotel right on the beach. Not that we are going to waste all of our time sunbathing. Naxos is the type of island where you can rent a car to go drive up to see ancient Byzantine churches but you might get stopped by a herd of goats crossing the road. Not nearly as touristy as Athens and Santorini. I've also read that you can rent 4 wheelers to explore part of the island and you will come across some completely deserted beaches and swimming coves. Ahhh....I could go on and on. But I won't.

Now if the nest two months could just fly by.....
