Now that we are about to hit the one month mark I am starting to get a little better hang of his schedule. It seems like I am feeling more like revisiting the land of the living again rather than just staying holed up with my little guy. Of course, the majority of our days will still be spent in the house. (Especially with this horrendous winter weather.)
In the last month I have not done one iota of exercise. Unless of course you include wrangling a baby who seems to be packing on the pounds at a rapid rate. Seriously-- I'm going to have some seriously buff upper arms if this little guy keeps it up. I am starting to feel like I need to burn off some energy and get the old lungs pumping again so I've been thinking of ways I can squeeze some exercising in. Of course I can probably sneak out of the house for an hour here and there to catch a yoga class or short workout if my husband or my mom is available for a short baby sitting session. That's easy, but I was thinking of something a little more regular. Ideally the weather will suddenly turn beautifully warm and I can take my boy on walks in the park. That would be the best case scenario. I'm assuming that's not going to happen any time soon, and my gym doesn't allow strollers on the track, so I came up with an alternative... Mall walking!
I have not tried this yet and quite frankly I'm not sure if I'm even "allowed" to exercise until after my 6 week check up at the OBGYN's. However-- I think it's a brilliant idea! Sure, I might be the only person under the age of 65, but that's OK with me. I went to a couple mall websites and they all have mall walking programs from 6am- 10am. It's temperature controlled, not too far away and the floor surface is great for strollers. Plus, some of the stores have nice "lounge" rooms to breastfeed in after they open at 10. I'll have to let you know if I can get our mornings organized enough to try it. :)
