Will someone please tell me why all of the houses for sale that even remotely fit my criteria all feature tons of honey colored oak? Don't get me wrong, oak is lovely, but my house has WAY too much of it and one of my most important criteria in my home search is to either have darker wood flooring or have such horrible flooring that I would replace it with something of my choosing.
Like I said, no offense to honey colored oak, but when you have it on your floors and mantle...
and your cabinets...
and your bathroom....
it sort of just gets a little old.

Ahhh! I hear ya. :) We've got an abundance of maple in our house... Although it's mixed with some oak. I much prefer deep dark cherry!
110% agreed. Oak floors against oak cabinets w/ oak trim makes me want to barf.
