More Baby-Related "Checks!"

I'm all about getting things accomplished these last two weeks...and yet I feel like I still have tons more to do. Isn't that always the way? So what have I accomplished so far?....

• The nursery furniture! We went and ordered it yesterday from Treasure Rooms in Town and Country. It took 4 visits to the store, but we decided on Munire's "Madison" in espresso. We got the crib and a six drawer dresser that will also serve as the changing table. I just love the feet on this set. The only thing we still need to find is a glider/rocker. They had cute ones at Treasure Rooms, but I'm hoping to find the smallest one possible that is still comfortable. (We are a little tight on space in the nursery and the dresser/crib is pretty substantial.) Unfortunately, this brand takes anywhere from 2-3 months to come in. That means that it might not arrive until mid December. That's cutting it pretty close. I mean, the baby will be in my room for a while after it is born, but I like to have things ready and organized in advance. Here's the set... (But this pic shows a different size dresser)

And here's a pic of it taken apart and set up as a bed. (I bought the conversion set, so I'm hoping that after we have more kids it will look decent enough to use.)

• I've "pre-registered" for the hospital and registered for all of our classes. We are taking the child birthing class (lamaze) as well as an infant care class.

• This really isn't a "check" on my part, but I got the invite in the mail for our first shower. I just think it is the cutest thing ever... Can you read it? It says, "While the little muffin bakes, let's celebrate."

• I think I've chosen a doula. We've talked on the phone and are going to meet in person next week. I've actually met her before because she has worked with some friends of ours, but this will be our first "official" meeting. It was sort of a hard decision as a person who isn't really planning on an all-natural childbirth. (Which a lot of doulas prefer.) I'll make a separate post about why I chose to use a doula sometime in the future.

• Scheduled the new carpet installation. Not that it was hard to schedule or anything, but we can't really do anything else until the carpeting and painting is done. I'm going to keep you updated on the carpeting thing, because I think it's going to be a disaster. I guess I underestimated what I'm going to have to do to get ready. They have to completely disassemble our bedroom furniture an move it into the hallway to do the master bedroom. The furniture is 130 years old and most of it is oversized. That means all nicknacks, bedding and small furnishings are going to have to go...not to mention getting everything off the floor of the closets and moving the office furniture to the basement. Hmm... I see chaos in our future.

Well... on the list for today is buying 2 wedding gifts, a bachelorette gift and two baby shower gifts. Holy crap. That's a lot of gifts. Have a good weekend everyone!

I love the crib/bed. I have never seen anything like that before. I am very interested to hear about your choice to hire a doula. I thought it was only for people planning a natural childbirth.
